Treehouse Foods cuts 150 jobs as part of planned operational changes

Treehouse Foods, a US-based private label food and beverage manufacturer, has announced that it is implementing planned changes to drive greater operational efficiency, achieve cost savings and enhance profitability.

As part of the plan, Scott Tassani, executive vice president, business president and chief commercial officer, will be leaving the company as of 30 May. Treehouse Foods stated that Tassani will assist with the initial transition of the reorganisation. After this, his duties will be absorbed by other senior leaders.

In addition to this, the company will centralise and reorganise its corporate support functions, which will lead to the elimination of approximately 150 roles.

Steve Oakland, Treehouse Foods' chairman, CEO and president, said: "We continue to see significant opportunity to improve our execution and consistency, positioning us to better serve our customers while driving improved profitability. We are streamlining our organisational and cost structures, which we believe will enable us to sharpen our competitiveness in what remains a dynamic consumer environment. We continue to focus on better positioning the company to drive improved financial performance and value creation for our shareholders.”

Speaking about Tassani’s departure, Oakland added: “I thank Scott for his partnership and contributions to the company and look forward to his support during the upcoming transition. We believe a more streamlined leadership and organisational structure will support faster decision-making and increased efficiencies."

Treehouse Foods reaffirmed its previously provided financial guidance for 2025 of adjusted annual net sales in a range of $3.34 billion to $3.4 billion and adjusted EBITDA from continuing operations in a range of $345 million to $375 million. This incorporates a partial year impact of the anticipated savings from the reorganisation.

Treehouse Foods produces a variety of products, including crackers, non-dairy creamer, pickles, refrigerated dough, broths and stocks, hot cereal, pretzels, in-store bakery items, griddle, cookies, cheese, pudding, powdered beverages, coffee, tea and confectionery.

The company acquired Harris Tea for $205 million in January this year, aiming to enhance its position in the private label tea market.
