Seven Sundays has unveiled its latest product, Little Crispies, a cereal made from sorghum, aimed at tapping into the growing demand for healthier breakfast options. This launch comes at a time when consumers are increasingly seeking nutritious and sustainable food choices.
Little Crispies are designed to offer a nostalgic crunch reminiscent of traditional cereals while incorporating modern nutritional benefits.
The product features crispy flakes made from sorghum, a grain known for its high protein content and lower water requirements compared to corn. This aligns with Seven Sundays' commitment to sustainability, as sorghum is considered an environmentally friendly crop.
The company, which operates as a certified B Corporation, highlighted the use of simple, real ingredients in its products. Little Crispies are crafted without refined sugars, GMOs or artificial additives, appealing to health-conscious consumers.
The cereal is sweetened naturally with honey and coconut oil, reinforcing the brand's philosophy that delicious foods should not come at the expense of environmental integrity.
Seven Sundays co-founder Hannah Barnstable said: “At Seven Sundays, we’re always looking for ways to think outside the box and bring consumers something both nostalgic and new”.
The company aims to differentiate itself from traditional rice-based cereals by using sorghum, which has been a staple in various cultures for centuries but remains underutilised in mainstream food products.
The introduction of Little Crispies also reflects a broader trend in the food manufacturing industry toward upcycled ingredients.
Since its inception in 2020, Seven Sundays has focused on minimising food waste by incorporating upcycled ingredients into its cereals. To date, the brand claims to have saved over 150 tons of waste from the food system through its innovative sourcing practices.
Little Crispies will be available in three flavours: Cinnamon Toast, Honey Almond and Cocoa Crunch, each designed to evoke familiar breakfast experiences while providing a healthier alternative. The cereals are gluten-free and are suitable for a variety of dietary preferences, including vegan options.
As the cereal market continues to evolve, the demand for products that combine taste, health and sustainability is on the rise. Seven Sundays aims to capture this market by appealing to both traditional cereal consumers and those seeking healthier alternatives.
Little Crispies will be available for purchase online and at major retailers, including Costco, Sprouts and Whole Foods Market, priced at $7.99 per bag.
