Chef Yotam Ottolenghi has launched three new products in his ingredients, sauces and spices range, sold exclusively at Waitrose stores in the UK.
Building on the nine-strong ingredients range, which was first launched in April, the new products include a Libyan-Jewish pilpelchuma sauce, a date and tamarind sauce and a roasted aubergine and tomato sauce.
🧄 Pilpelchuma is a smoky and spicy Libyan chilli paste, made with a blend of roasted red peppers, garlic, cumin and a hit of chilli. It can be used to enrichs sauces and stews, or as a quick coating when roasting vegetables or marinating meat, fish or grilled vegetables.
🔥 Ottolenghi calls the Sticky Date & Tamarind Sauce “HP sauce, Ottolenghi style”. Featuring a sweet, tangy and piquant blend of tamarind, dates, ginger and soy, working in dishes from breakfast to adding depth to stews, or as a base for a salad dressing.
🍅 Finally, the Roasted Aubergine & Tomato Sauce is packed with charred aubergine, ripe tomatoes and garlic, and can be used wherever you would a traditional tomato sauce.
Yotam Ottolenghi said: “It has been wonderful to see how people have responded to our pastes, sauces, herbs and spices range and how home cooks are exploring new and exciting flavours and combinations in the kitchen. These new products are taking the flavour to the next level and I couldn't be more excited to get them out into the world. I am particularly excited for people to taste the pilpelchuma, a deliciously spicy, pepper, garlic and chilli paste that I love and that I think is going to be the next harissa.”
Lucy White, world foods buyer at Waitrose, added: “The Ottolenghi range has been a great success at Waitrose and the response from our customers has been amazing. The initial range exceeded our expectations and we look forward to hearing what our customers think about these new additions.”
The Ottolenghi range is available to purchase now in Waitrose stores nationwide.
