Sparkling water brand Nixie has entered the soda category with a new range of organic sugar-free sodas, available in cola, root beer and ginger ale flavours.
The US-based brand said it is aiming to give the diet soda category an overdue shake-up with the introduction of its new range. While taste has improved since diet soda entered the mainstream in the 1950s, Nixie said, the category – estimated to be worth more than $10bn – is still ‘dominated by products that contain synthetic ingredients’.
Nixie aims to deliver a tasty, healthier and more sustainable alternative with its Organic Zero Sugar Soda line, which is crafted with USDA-certified organic flavours and extracts. The zero-calorie products contain no artificial sweeteners, and are made with water purified using reverse osmosis filtration. They are vegan, gluten-free and Non-GMO Project-verified.
The brand’s founder, Nicole Bernard Dawes, said: “I have dedicated my career to challenging the conventional market by proving that products made with organic ingredients can taste as good as, if not better than, their conventional counterparts”.
She added: “With this new line, I want consumers who care about their health and the environment to finally have access to the same products offered by conventional soda brands, but without the sugar and questionable ingredients. Natural food consumers deserve to have it all and there is no reason they can't.”
The range is rolling out this summer across the US, at selected retailers including Sprouts Farmers Market and Amazon.
