JBS to invest BRL 150m to double beef capacity at Brazil plant
JBS is investing BRL 150 million (approx. $28.4 million) in its Campo Grande II unit in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The funding is set to double both the processing capacity and workforce at the facility. The move is set to make the company the largest beef plant in Latin America and one of the top three largest facilities in the JBS network globally, while also creating 2,300 new jobs. This investment will enable the daily processing volume to double from 2,200 to 4,400 animals within a year, with the number of employees also doubling from 2,300 to 4,600. Furthermore, by meeting the rising global demand for Brazilian beef exports, particularly in China and other markets, the deal solidifies JBS Brazil's role "as an economic and social engine," said the company.
