Endeavour Group to buy Cape Mentelle Winery from Moët Hennessy

Endeavour Group to buy Cape Mentelle Winery from Moët Hennessy

Australian alcoholic drinks retailer, Endeavour Group, has signed an agreement with Moët Hennessy to buy Cape Mentelle Winery for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 1970, Cape Mentelle is one of the founding five wineries of the Margaret River region in Western Australia. Cape Mentelle will be added to Endeavour Group’s Paragon Wine Estates portfolio, which offers a range of premium wine brands across Australia and New Zealand. Endeavour Group's CEO and managing director, Steve Donohue, said that the acquisition is "an important next step in enhancing Paragon Wine Estate’s fine wine portfolio, giving the business a premium presence in Western Australia". He continued: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Cape Mentelle to the Endeavour Group and Paragon Wine Estates families and to see it continue to grow on a global scale while giving more people across Australia access to its fantastic range of wines”. Estate director Penny Dickeson, viticulturist Dave Moulton and senior winemaker Eloise Jarvis will all remain with the business. Completion of the transaction is pending licensing approval.
