Candwich: convenient, tasty and grounds for a lawsuit?

It’s been a slow week for news, what we call ‘the silly season’, so this story really fits the mood. Welcome the Candwich – not just innovation but, it seems, grounds for a lawsuit too.

The Federal Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a lawsuit against Travis L Wright, saying he convinced investors to supply him with $145 million for real estate investments. But they didn’t know that Wright allegedly had other Candwich related plans.

According to The New York Times, the lawsuit says that Wright guaranteed returns up to 24% on real estate investments, but then used the start-up capital to invest in Candwich and other ventures, including French Toast in a can and Pepperoni Pizza Pocket.

I apparently became skeptical once Wright neglected to return phone calls and lines for his company Waterford Funding were either not in service or disconnected.

President of Mark One Foods, Mark Kirkland, said he patented the idea of stuffing hand-food in a to-go beverage container and is hoping to move forward with production later this year.
